I bought the Whistler XTR-140 Laser/Radar Detector, and was surprised how well it worked for a detector under $100. So I went to buy another one. Unfortunately, on the way to buy one, I opted to buy a more expensive Whitler 330 model, thinking it would be an improvement for $25 more. I was wrong, side by side the XTR-140 out performed the other one. In short, the XTR-140 gives me about 100 yards to 1 mile of warning, depending on weather condition and my speed and the terrain and band used. I guess in terms of time, it's about 2 seconds to 15 seconds. The other "cheaper", under $100 detectors, sometimes don't even alarm. Overall I'm very happy with my detector.
